Black-dyed, burnished and lapped porcelain mug lined with a two-tone glaze on the interior. The satiny smooth exterior surface is delightful to hold. Burnishing and the subsequent kiln firings of this piece brought out an interesting mottled appearance, giving the mug an almost frosted look and an irregularity that evokes reduction firing effects (though this was fired in an electric kiln). The white handle is also unglazed, but was not burnished or lapped and therefore has a more grippy texture. It features an attractive thumb catch as well.
16oz volume, food safe, hand wash recommended, do not microwave.
